Dr. Ankit Meshram
Orthopaedic Excellence

Dr. Ankit Meshram visited a 42-year-old patient with persistent pain and swelling around the lower limb. At first, the patient thought the pain was due to a minor injury or to normal daily wear and tear. However, the symptoms continued and gradually started affecting walking and everyday activities.
However, routine treatment did not relieve the pain, and the patient chose to seek evaluation by an orthopaedic surgeon.
The main concern of the patient was regarding the chronicity of the symptoms. Pain and swelling were becoming an issue that made even normal tasks like walking and going up the stairs difficult for him.
At the beginning of the consultation, the patient provided information related to the symptoms and passed on the medical reports to Dr. Ankit Meshram.
Whenever a patient came with any symptoms of orthopaedic disease, Dr. Ankit Meshram suggested a thorough analysis.
Patients were investigated as per the diagnostic work-up. Imaging and other pertinent evaluations were reviewed to determine the nature, location, and degree of the bone abnormality.
A more detailed clinical examination and investigation led the patient to be advised to seek specialist assessment and a structured treatment plan.
Suspected bone cancers and bone tumours must be carefully diagnosed, as the treatment will depend on different factors such as the type of tumour, its location, stage, and the health of the patient.
Dr. Ankit Meshram, after analyzing the patient’s case, explained the treatment trajectory that was available and the significance of having cancer care in a multi-disciplinary team.
Bone Cancer Treatment can vary from surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and/or other special therapies, depending on the diagnosis.
The next steps were explained to the patient, with the appropriate oncology-related evaluation where necessary.
It wasn’t just about treating the affected bone, but also developing a treatment strategy for the patient based on their diagnosis and general health.
Surgical intervention was considered as part of the patient’s treatment plan, to preserve as much healthy bone and function as clinically appropriate, and to treat the affected area.
Dr. Ankit Meshram explained the procedure, the recovery time, and the potential risks to the patient before going ahead.
The surgical approach was planned in accordance with the location and the nature of the bone lesion and the overall treatment strategy.
The patient received suitable post-treatment instructions and follow-up suggestions.
Recovery from Bone Cancer Treatment may vary widely, depending on the type of bone cancer, the treatment administered, and the patient’s general health.
Follow-up is necessary to ensure recovery and assess the patient’s status as time goes on.
The patient was also counselled on rehabilitation and resuming normal activities as per the medical advice.
One of the more critical elements in the treatment process for the patient was the fact that the condition was thoroughly investigated instead of treated as a common injury.
The patient was given structured feedback on the diagnosis, the options for treatment, and what would happen next, in order to help them to understand the process.
This case illustrates the importance of early assessment of chronic bone pain, swelling, or unexplained symptoms, especially if symptoms do not improve as expected.
This case illustrates some of the key points in the care of suspected bone cancer:
For patients as well as their family members, the diagnosis of bone tumour could be extremely disturbing. Understanding the problem as well as being clear about the treatment procedure would make things easier for the treatment process.
In the current case, Dr. Ankit Meshram has focused on the importance of evaluating, diagnosing and treating the patient according to the patient’s condition.
If you are facing persistent bone pain or swelling, or some unexpected change in the bone, then you would require bone evaluation by an orthopaedist.
